THE MUSEUM OF WINE AND CULTURE
Sited at the edge of Parque Metropolitano in the center of Santiago, our proposal for a new wine museum began by reading into the relationship of the Cerro San Cristobal natural landscape and the city. We re-interpreted this relationship to allow the museum to become a implicit extension of the city into the park, but with minimal disruption to the natural park condition as possible.
The open and flexible museum program accommodates various cultural and multimedia exhibition formats and is located under a cut and raised surface landscape to maintain the an extraordinary natural park experience. Marking the entry to the Parque, an 80m tall observation tower dressed in draping fabric filters natural light into the grand wine-tasting room and provides sweeping panoramic views across Santiago.
